Background
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is the UN
organization that supports sustainable human development globally through the
promotion of volunteerism, including the mobilization of volunteers, It serves
the causes of peace and development through enhancing opportunities for
participation by all peoples. It is universal, inclusive and embraces volunteer
action in all its diversity. This post is a UN Volunteer assignment based on
the values of free will, commitment, engagement and solidarity, which are the
foundations of volunteerism.
In all assignments,
UN Volunteers promote volunteerism through their action and conduct.
Engaging in volunteer activity can effectively and
positively enrich your understanding of local and social realities, as well as create
a bridge between yourself and the people in your host community.
Some of the duties and responsibilities:
The National UNV EDP
Specialist will undertake the following tasks:
Provide technical end-user support services to staff of
Registration and other units. Ensure backup and restoration of data are done
regularly in mobile and main server.
Responsible analysis and preparation of food and Non-food
item distribution list. Continuous registration process of new born babies,
Voluntary repatriation (Volrep) and deaths for UNHCR's people of Concern.
Monitoring the main ProGres server and mobile server
performance and providing weekly performance reports; Assist in monitoring and
analyzing the refugee situation and changes, including updating refugee family
composition, social events and address.
Ensuring data analysis and data quality check, Ensuring data
transfer from one database to another by using ProGreso Participate in other
registration activities such as verification exercises. Leading registration
teams at camp when and as required.
Perform searches of
information as per requirement. Draft weekly camp registration reports and
share with supervisor. Ensuring physical file management and documentation.
Generate customized list of beneficiaries as requested by
colleagues of other units. Provide training to other colleagues and partners as
required.
Qualifications,
Experience and Skills:

Bachelors Degree in ICT.
·
Minimum 2 years relevant work experience in
Registration of refugees.
·
Good knowledge of the-refugee database system
(ProGres) will be an added advantage.
·
Advanced knowledg'e in MS Access, MS Excel and
MS SQL.
·
Strong database analytical skills. Fluency in
English and Kiswahili (Both spoken and written). Strong interpersonal skills,
self-motivated and demonstrates a dynamic ability to work with multi-cultures.
Knowledge of and/or preparedness to become familiar with and abide by UNHCRis
principles, code of conduct and humanitarian goals.
